Will Donald Trump succeed to stop the Russia-Ukraine war in 2025?
Not only Donald Trump said he was going to stop the Russia-Ukraine war in 2025 — the sultan of Osman Empire is saying the same thing.
Turkish President Erdogan released a video message for the New Year’s Eve, in which he said that ending the war in Ukraine is a priority for Istanbul in 2025.
Erdogan also was consistently saying that Crimea is Ukraine.
After Turkey’s success in Syria and the fall of the Assad regime, Erdogan is certainly a major influence on developments in the region.
It was also Turkey that backed Azerbaijan in returning the territory of Nagorny Karabakh, kicking out Russian troops that were stationed there.
Putin is also having trouble with his puppet regimes in Russia-occupied Abkhazia and Tbilisi (Georgia).
Armenian president Pashinyan openly snubs Russia-centered economic and military alliances of post-USSR countries, refusing to participate in meetings of the military bloc SCTO and only attending sessions of the Customs Union by a video link.
The U.S. is a major military and economic power, but certainly not the only mighty power in the region that’s capable of creating actions leading to shifts in political landscape.
Trump’s decisive role in ending the Russian invasion of Ukraine could be to provide the full range of western weapons to Ukraine and allowing to hit juicy targets in Russia.
But with key members of Trump’s crew — his VP Vance and his co-president Musk — complaining about the aid to Ukraine and even mocking the U.S. efforts to support the nation fighting for its survival, Ukraine and Europe had to design a plan what to do if the U.S. indeed halts assistance, as Trump stated he might do — if Ukraine doesn’t agree on his plan.
So, Trump’s ability to end the war in Ukraine is based not on his threats to cut the U.S. aid, but rather on providing more of it.
If Trump chooses to side with Putin and cut aid to Ukraine, then the war will last longer — possibly, into 2026–2027.
To end the war in 2025, Trump would need to go for the throat. Putin’s throat.
